The Sept of Lakota Dawn is an all-Wendigo sept and Seclusionist. They exist exclusively outside White Man's Law and make absolutely no pretense to being a part of that society. Though most of the homids live among their kin on the Lakota Reservation to the north, they go to great lengths to having no legal identity, collectively or as individuals. None are fingerprinted, none have been legally born in the US, none have Social Security Numbers. They depend entirely upon their kin to procure what they need to carry out their primary task - the re-taking of the Black Hills Caern from the U.S. Government and the prevention of the despoiling of their sacred sites. To this end, they are the classic eco-terrorists, destroying equipment, booby-trapping machinery to fail explosively while in use and killing the servants of the Wyrm, who regularly do their damnedest to undermine the Sept's efforts. There are six Lupus, 9 Homids and no Metis in the Sept, comprising 3 packs, the Winter's Eve (a young pack of three of the six Lupus), the North Wind (including the War Chief, Firedancer) and the Frozen Tomahawk (comprising the Alpha, Master of the Rite and Warder, plus the remaining Lupus).
The Kin are by far more numerous than the Garou, and fanatical about serving the Sept. They are mostly young braves who still accept the Old Ways, though there are a few older Kin including two attorneys representing the Souix Nation and one of the last true shamans on the Res.
Joe Twolegs is a powerful figure who, despite his Lupus birth, spends much of his time in Homid form. He is one of two full Elders of the sept and is renowned for single-handedly destroying a newly-dug-in hive of Spiral Dancers and reverting their Pit back to Gaia, healing the wound cut by the BSDs. He rules his Sept with a certain amount of ruthelessness and terror, though the reputation is somewhat greater than the fact. Twolegs possesses his predecessor's Great Klaive.
Firedancer is the War Chief, who is in charge of all geurrilla operations against the "wasichu invaders". His battle scars cover more of his flesh than does his fur, and he is hideous to look upon in Crinos form. Surprisingly, though, he wields a very gentle hand with both his sept mates and the kinfolk of the region. He possesses no aspirations to becoming Alpha, though he knows that unless he dies on a raid he is likely to outlive Joe Twolegs being better than 10 years his younger. Though only an Athro, he is treated with all the respect of a full Elder. This is, after all, a martial sept.
Redowl Hunter is the other of two surviving Elders of the sept. Unusual, especially for a Theurge, he underwent his first change late in life - age 24 - though it is said that there was purpose in this, that his wisdom might have a chance to grow before accepting the full mantle of his birth. It seems to have worked in his case, for he was full Garou for only 2 years before being given the position of Master of the Rite by his teacher and predecessor (for whom he peformed the Rite of the Winter Wolf, it is said, without remorse or regret). That was as an Adren. He has served the sept faithfully ever since.
T'Koda Wajtiplaju enjoys the distinction of being the only female to hold the position of Warder for the sept in it's 380 year history. While Alpha Twolegs was out destroying the BSD hive in 1994, two BSD packs assaulted the caern itself. T'Koda, as one of four Guardians at the time, turned the tide of battle by taunting the BSDs to focusing their attacks on her, allowing the other Guardians time to establish an ordered defense. She barely survived the fight and two years later, when Old Crow Eater (the former Warder) died in a raid, she was remembered for her valor and offered the position.
