What is the Global Story?

The Global Story is the internally consistent, universally running plotlines that underly the World of Darkness™ as experienced by the Chronicles of Under a Red Moon. These are issues, plots and events that are true and binding in all chronicles that have a reasonable likelihood of effecting all chronicles.

It is our job, as the Coordinators of UaRM, to inform you Storytellers and Narrators of the truth behind major rumors and the facts underlying the actions of the Greater World. It is, in your turn as Storytellers, your job to integrate them to an appropriate degree into your chronicles. This requires a certain amount of responsibility, creativity and a sense of good judgement to determine how (and to what degree) they will be integrated into your own story. However you choose to do so, it must be remembered that the items described here are true throughout UaRM. You do not have the luxury of picking and choosing what will be true in your chronicle, not once it is published here on this page.

As an example (a purely fictional one - this is not to be considered part of the Global Story until and unless stated otherwise, below), if it appears here that there is a Red Star now shining in the Umbra that was not there before, and that it shines upon all points within the Umbra, then it is your job, as Storytellers, to inform your players of what they see when they step sidewise.

EXAMPLE 1 :

Stumbles at Dusk, the War Chief of the Sept of the Storm's Eye, is destined to come closer than any Garou previously to overcoming all seven challenges during the Rite of Reawakening. While he will not succeed in all of them, he will get close enough to have a lasting effect on the Umbra and the Realm in what was once the Pure Lands. Upon completion of the Rite, the Gauntlet in all areas largely of the Wyld will decrease by one throughout North America.

Action by Storytellers: It is recommended that the most sensitive or spiritual member of each sept - especially those of Wendigo or Uktena - begin having prophetic dreams describing in VERY subtle and symbolic terms what is about to happen between now and the Spring Equinox (March 21, 2001). The characters receiving these dreams should have severe trouble finding out what they mean, but should certainly recognize them as prophetic. The following symbols are strongly recommended to encourage characters from other septs to recognize similar dreams: Images of Spring, symbols of obstacles moved aside, a "Great Timber Wolf" tumbling and fighting with a hand, or a glove or a concrete wall, five logs thrown on a fire which gets brighter with each and finally consumes the viewpoint, etc.
