Instant Messaging


AIM, or America Online Instant Messanger is a method of chatting over the internet with specific people based on a user name and an instant messaging protocal. To use it, one would normally download AIM from the link above, but then you have to see America Online's advertisements, so I use Gaim, which is an open source instant messaging client that is not only free, but also advertising free. You may have to download AIM first to get a user name, I'm not sure, anyhow Gaim supports mutliple instant messaging protocals such as jabber and ICQ as well as AIM. --Chris. 5/19/04
