A Woman's Story

The pain that she feels as she looks through the window
Looks out at what never can be
She sees when she looks, children laughing and smiling
Knowing that she never can see
The one that she carried for many months
The one that she loves with all her heart
The one who's life was quickly cut short
The son for whom she weeps.

The pain that she feels as she looks through the window
Looks out at what never can be.
She sees children, growing and falling in love
She looks back at her choice, at their life just begun
Knowing that she never will see
The one that she thought would always love her
The one that left her long ago
The one she still loves
The one who left when she needed him most
The man she will never see again.

The pain that she feels as she looks through the window
Looking out at what might just be
She sees other women's children laughing and smiling
Knowing that there just might be
A new life for her, she's found a man
A new life for her, she's got a ring on her finger
A new life, growing inside her
A new life to help the pain subside
The pain that will always be
She will smile away the pain
